Used books worth looking out for (1): The New Naturalist series

April 6th, 2008

As regular readers of this blog will know, I am slowly compiling a book of hot-selling non-fiction books and, consequently, I spend a lot of time researching completed auctions on eBay.

I have noticed several series of books that are regularly listed on eBay, many of which sell for very good prices. I thought it would be useful to highlight some of them as you may want to keep your eyes open for them when visiting charity shops and flea markets etc.

Happy Anniversary to My Silent Team

March 22nd, 2008

One year ago this month I received an email from eBay expert Jim Cockrum announcing the launch of his new membership site, My Silent Team.

At the time, I resisted the temptation to join as I was busy with my day job, selling on eBay and working on other projects, and I didn’t think I would find the time to get any worthwhile value from the site.

Sourcing Stock - Part 2: Antiques and Collectibles

January 20th, 2008

Selling collectibles online is not only potentially very profitable, it can also be great fun, especially if you specialise in one or more niches that are of particular interest to you. You will be much more enthusiastic if you are working with items that you enjoy, and it is likely that you will already have a good knowledge of the products, which will enable you to write more compelling auction descriptions and position yourself as an expert.

Specializing also provides the opportunity to build a list of loyal customers who will buy from you again and again. This will make it easier for you to eventually expand outside of eBay and sell from your own website if you wish to do so, thus saving on listing and final value fees.
