New Year, New Plans, New Goals

Happy New Year everybody! Okay,  I’m a bit late (so what’s new!), but there are still more than 11 months stretched out before us, untouched and inviting. That still gives us time to reflect on our successes of last year and make plans to build upon them and do even better in the year ahead. As for last year’s failures (of which, hopefully, there were few), we should learn from the experience, move on and hopefully not make the same mistakes again.

Looking back, I have to admit that I failed to achieve everything I hoped to in 2010 . No excuses, the only reason I didn’t get everything done is my seemingly inherent inability to manage my time effectively, and that’s something I certainly need to work on.

On the more positive side, I increased my activity on eBay and managed to clear some of the ‘junk’ that has been accumulating for years in our attic, although there is still plenty left to keep me busy for several months at least!

So how did 2010 go for you, and what are your plans for this year? If you haven’t already done so, now is the time to write down your goals and the steps you need to take to reach them. Stay focused, and don’t be distracted by the emails that drop into your inbox promoting the latest ‘shiny object’. However convincing the copywriters make it sound there is no magic bullet, and jumping from one project to the next in search of overnight riches will only end in disappointment.

So what are my plans for 2011? As well as posting here more frequently, I want to get a new website up and running which will hopefully generate revenue from advertising and affiliate commission from links to physical products.  I am also considering signing up as a ProSeller on Amazon to try out their FBA (Fulfilment by Amazon) program. But as there is a monthly subscription fee, plus storage charges for inventory, it does involve some financial risk and I want to make sure I’m well prepared before I take the plunge.

I will, of course, continue to seek out potentially profitable niches on eBay and share the information here on the blog so be sure to bookmark us and become a regular visitor, or sign up for our newsletter if you haven’t already done so.

Have a happy, healthy and successful 2011!

    Hi Lynn

Happy new year to you too and I hope you achieve your goals in 2011.

Start by unsubscribing to mailing lists that aren’t useful and limit the time you spend in forums and surfing the internet as they can distract you from what you want to do.

Plus make good use of your time when you are online by concentrating on what will make you some money first and the other stuff can wait until you are making money.

Good luck and I’ll see you on WWW when you’ve got a minute.

    Take care

    Hi Dawn

It’s nice of you to drop by, and thanks for the advice. You’re quite right about unsubscribing to mailing lists and avoiding all the other distractions! I cut the lists I was on to an absolute minimum at the end of last year and I’m determined to keep it that way. But I still need to be more disciplined about focusing on one thing at a time instead of jumping from one thing to another.

I haven’t been on the Website Wealth Wizards website for a while so it’s time I dropped in to say hello and see what everyone is up to.

    Take care

    Hi Lynn,

I hope you are sill managing to keep on track with your goals.

I must admit that although primarily interested in Internet Marketing I have recently also started to become interested in Creative Writing (see my couple of recent blog posts) and one of my goals this year is to try to see if I can develop this creative ability (mainly for my own enjoyment – not money). However, like you say, it can be so easy to become distracted!

Looking forward to hearing you share more about your eBay activities and also hearing how you get on with the Amazon ProSeller program.

    Best wishes,

    Hi Ian,

I love your style of writing and enjoy reading your blog posts which are so different from the norm! You say you want to develop your creative ability for your own enjoyment, but as you have the talent why not make money with it as well? It doesn’t have to be one or the other ;-)

As for your ‘friend’ Mike, I know him well :D He seems to be lurking around every corner of the Internet Marketing world but as he stands out a mile with his fake orange tan and his flash car it’s easy to take evasive action when you see him coming.

Good luck with the creative writing, and come and see us again soon.
